a reason to swim

You don't need to know anything about me.

I don’t have power back at home and probably won’t for a good while, and now I’m in Staten Island which isn’t in any better condition but here has power so I’m cleaning up.

These are the pictures from my friends and on the news. These are all from my county. A lot of people I know who lived by the beach lost their homes. Today is the first time I can actually see what has happened to everyone.

Some of my good friends’ homes are wiped out. The streets are completely obliterated. Fuck. This is so fucking depressing. My childhood is all wiped out. Trees are lying on top of homes, on streets, on cars. Jesus. Everything is gone. The beaches I would go to all year round - not like these Jersey Shore people and tourists in the summer, are gone.

Fuck everyone who hates Jersey because they only base their knowledge on Jersey Shore and thinks everyone here is an asshole. Fuck that. This is my home. The beaches, the woods, these places have been my escape for years. Ugh.

Ocean Avenue. I can’t imagine going through there and not knocking on a few friends’ doors. Now, there’s nothing there anymore. Everything is gone.

This can’t be real.
